Message from Mal, Club President

As Club President I cannot let today go without a message to all Old Salts. What a wonderful day for the club yesterday!

I know the result was disappointing but we really did ourselves proud both on and off the pitch. And pride is what I would like to emphasise. After what the club has been through over the last five or six years who could have imagined where we would be now. The first full season back in our spiritual home and look what has been achieved. Promotion to Level 6, yes, an exit from the cup, but probably one of the best and intensive games of rugby I’ve seen for several seasons. 

And then the Second Team! Re-established and having won their merit table may well now be placed into a formal Level 9 league. More opportunities for those players pushing for a spot in the First Team Squad. 

The Mini and Youth Section - a difficult situation from which to start, but start they have and now they need nurturing and care. They are the future. 

The formal start up of the Women’s Section. They deserve more recognition and support.

Our magnificent clubhouse, pitches and other facilities, the envy of all visiting teams. I could go on and probably will……

My main message is one of thanks. To our Chairman Mick Lee for his relentless work to make it all possible. To our Management Committee and Directors for their ongoing contributions to running the Club, and not least of course our players, our warriors and leaders out on the pitch. 

I cannot close without thanking the coaches and all of our unsung volunteers plus the catering and bar staff team.

Now I have gone on! But......

Be proud, be VERY proud.
